FROM RONIN: A MATTER OF DUTY
Continue on KindleRONIN CHAPTER 1 Get up, Ronin. Aishi. It is this or we starve. Then let's do what must be done. Ronin! How long does it take you to get up and about? Few men could command this ronin. The servant relished it. One bowed, concealing his anger and frustration. 1
RONIN CHAPTER 1 So, you have finally come to see the truth of things, have you? I am ready to serve. Then come! Have a seat and enjoy some of this tea with me. Ori had a famous swordsman at his service. Outside, Aishi's stare silenced the servant. 2
RONIN CHAPTER 1 What an impeccable day it is! I never dreamed that such a man would come into my service! I know this is such a tragedy for you, but do not worry. You will see how beneficial this will be for both of us! What is it you wish of me, Ori? 3
RONIN CHAPTER 1 Please! Have some tea. Refusing Ori's courtesies meant leaving empty-handed. One chose to comply. He sipped the tea and chatted politely. What seemed like hours passed. Aishi could hear their voices through the door, but not their words. Come, we are set to a task. One's expression gave nothing away. 4
RONIN CHAPTER 1 Ori still smiled. Uneasy, Aishi asked what had happened. We are set to a task. Well, what is the task? There is a place south of here, hidden from sight. Shipments pass through it, and we are to make sure they are secured. One wanted to earn their payment and continue toward their true goal. He would judge the task by what it asked of him when the truth revealed itself. What are these shipments? He did not say. Why employ a famous swordsman merely to watch for thieves? The secret shipment must matter. Aishi quickened his step, eager for answers. Coin could command his service, but it could not command his honor. 5
A short adventure.
Something to carry with you.
